Patent drawings and invention development
I take you from the idea to the manufacturing drawings, by way of the patent drawings.
When it helps
- You have an idea for a mechanical product and don't know where to start.
- You are about to file a patent application and need the drawings.
- You are a patent attorney looking for someone to draw the sheets.
From concept to drawings
Concept
Sketches and alternatives to choose how it works.
3D model and analysis
So that it fits, moves and holds.
Patent drawings
With their reference numerals, coordinated with your attorney.
Prototype and drawings
The documents needed to make it.
What you get
- 3D model
- The invention defined and checked.
- Patent drawing sheets
- Meeting the requirements of the Spanish Patent Office (OEPM) and the EPO.
- Manufacturing drawings
- For the prototype and for production.
An example sheet
A4 sheet, fixed margins, no frame, and reference numerals that match the description.
I prepare it from the 3D model, so the figures are consistent with each other and can be regenerated if the claims change.
Do not show or publish your invention before the application is filed. I sign a non-disclosure agreement before seeing anything.
Frequently asked questions
Does my idea need to be fully defined?
No. Many inventions arrive as a sketch. Defining it is part of the work.
Can I hire you just for the drawings?
Yes. You can hire the whole process or only the stages you are missing.
Do you write the patent?
No. The claims and legal advice are a matter for a patent attorney. If you don't have one, I can explain how to find one.
Patent or utility model?
It depends on the invention. I explain it in the guide to patenting an idea; the decision is best made with an attorney.
Who owns the design?
You do. We put it in writing in the quote, together with confidentiality.
