CFD flow simulation

I simulate how a liquid or a gas flows through your equipment, before you build the prototype.

When it helps

  • You want to know how much pressure a circuit loses, and where.
  • A manifold does not deliver the same flow to every outlet.
  • You are torn between two designs and want to know which works better.

How I work

  1. One clear question

What you want to know and how accurately.

  2. Geometry and conditions

3D model, fluid, flow rates and temperatures.

  3. Simulation

    Mesh, solution and checks.

  4. Results

A report and a meeting to go through it.

What you get

The values you were after
Pressure loss, flow split or force.
Flow maps
Velocity, pressure and temperature where it matters.
Recommendations
What to change and what to expect from the change.
Reverse engineering of a flow multiplier for a 120 mm fan.

What a result looks like

The velocity map shows where the air speeds up; the streamlines show where it goes and where it swirls.

That is what you use to decide what to change in the geometry before anything is made.

Frequently asked questions

What cases do you simulate?

Internal flow (pipes, manifolds, valves, nozzles), external flow (air or water forces on a part), heat transfer and ventilation.

Do I need to have the 3D model?

No. If you don't have one, I prepare it from drawings, photos or the part itself.

Does it replace a test?

Not entirely. It cuts the number of prototypes and helps you understand what you measure. If there are real measurements, I use them to validate the model.

Which software do you use?

OpenFOAM. I deliver the results as a PDF and, if you need them, the simulation files.

What do you want to simulate?

Tell me about the equipment, the fluid and the question you want answered.
