Reverse engineering of parts without drawings
I measure the part, rebuild it in 3D and prepare the drawings to manufacture it again.
When it helps
- A part has broken and the machine's manufacturer no longer exists.
- A spare part is discontinued or takes months to arrive.
- You have an old machine with no documentation and want to modify it.
How I work
You send photos and i measure the part
Photos to understand the part and measurements to make it, at the same time.
3D model
Fits the parts around it.
Validation
Calculations or simulations.
Drawings
Dimensions, fits and finishes.
What you get
- Editable 3D model
- With axes and references that make sense for manufacturing.
- Manufacturing drawings
- Ready to ask for quotes.
- Documented measurements
- What was measured, what was assumed and why.

An example: ERLO pillar drill
A fall cracked the body of the machine. I rebuilt the whole drill in 3D and prepared the drawings to make its parts again.
Frequently asked questions
Can you assess it without the part?
Yes, from photos and approximate measurements. To set the manufacturing dimensions the part has to be measured, at your shop or by sending it to me.
How do you measure?
Functional dimensions with callipers and micrometers; complex shapes with photogrammetry or a 3D scanner.
Isn't a scan already the model?
No. A scan gives you a point cloud or a mesh, not an editable model, and it does not validate the dimensions on its own. From there I rebuild the part and check the important dimensions by measuring.
Can a worn part be copied?
Yes, but you have to decide which dimension is the original one. The mating part, the manual or a less worn part all help.
What is not included?
Manufacturing, machine certification, and copying parts protected by third-party rights without permission.
Send me photos of the part
Two or three photos, one reference measurement and what you need it for.
