FreeCAD for mechanical engineering projects

I deliver complete projects in FreeCAD and help companies use it in their daily work.

When it helps

  • You want projects delivered in an open format, with no licences.
  • You are thinking of moving from proprietary design software to FreeCAD.
  • You repeat tasks by hand that could be automated with Python.

How I work

  1. Tell me how you work

    Software, files and everyday tasks.

  2. I tell you what makes sense

What to migrate, what to redo and what to leave as it is.

  3. We do it in stages

Starting with what you use every day.

What I do

Projects in FreeCAD
Design, drawings and analysis in FreeCAD files.
Migration
Models, drawings and templates from SOLIDWORKS.
Python macros
Part families, bills of materials, exports.
Excavator arm assembly open in FreeCAD 1.1, with the model tree on the left
FreeCAD 1.1 with an assembly (one of the program's example files).

Working in FreeCAD

Model, drawings and analysis in the same program, with files anyone can open and modify, including your customers and suppliers.

I also develop tools for FreeCAD, such as DesignProof: a workbench that varies a model's dimensions and checks whether it regenerates without errors.

Frequently asked questions

Why FreeCAD?

No licences, open formats, and a finite element module (CalculiX) whose results can be checked.

Does it have limits?

Yes. Some workflows are quicker in commercial software, and a migration needs careful planning. I'll tell you before you decide.

Can a SOLIDWORKS file be converted in one click?

No. The geometry comes across (STEP), but the feature history is lost. That is why I suggest migrating in stages.

Do you run courses?

Not for now. If your team needs occasional support during a migration, we can talk about it.

Do you want to work with FreeCAD?

Tell me what you do today and which software you use.
