Mechanical design of parts, assemblies and machines
I design the part or machine you need and hand it over ready to manufacture: 3D model and drawings.
When it helps
- You have an idea or a sketch and need to turn it into something that can be made.
- Your drawings are on paper or in 2D and you want an editable 3D model.
- You are building a special-purpose machine and need the complete assembly.
Does the part already exist but has no drawings? See reverse engineering.
How I work
You describe the problem
What it has to do, what it fits with and how many you will make.
We agree scope and price
Fixed price or hourly, with set review points.
We review the 3D model
Before the drawings, while changes are still cheap.
Drawings and files
Whatever your shop or supplier needs.
What you get
- Editable 3D model
- Well organised, so you can change it later.
- Manufacturing drawings
- Dimensions, tolerances and finishes to ISO.
- Files for the shop
- STEP, DXF and PDF, as well as the native format.

From 3D model to drawing
Every part comes with its 3D model and its drawing: the views it needs, functional dimensions, tolerances and a title block.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to design a part?
It depends on how complex it is and what you need delivered. With photos or a sketch I can give you an estimate.
Do you manufacture the parts?
No. I design and document; your shop or the supplier you choose makes them. If you don't have one, I can help you find manufacturers and prepare the documents to ask them for a quote.
Can you turn paper drawings into 3D?
Yes. I turn them into a 3D model and new drawings, and check that the dimensions add up. If the original has inconsistencies, I point them out before we decide which one is right.
Which software do you use?
SOLIDWORKS and FreeCAD. I deliver native files, STEP and PDF; other formats on request.
What if there are mistakes after delivery?
For 30 days I correct, free of charge, any mistakes that are down to my work.
What do you need designed?
